Beginning Drawing Workshop

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Students will focus on the perception of edges, spaces, relationships and values.  Students will learn about foreshortening, methods for measuring placement and the relative size of objects, the basic ideas behind perspective and some light logic.

 

Skin Tones Workshop**

Instructor: Lacey Lewis

Ages: Adult

Dates: Saturday, September 6

Time: 11:00 am-5:00 pm

Cost: $120 members/$130 non-members

 

The first half of the day will consist of a presentation, discussion and slideshow exploring all the variables that affect skin tones.  We will see how the Old Masters portrayed flesh, will view and analyze contemporary works and see step by step in progress of Lacey's paintings.

 

Hand-built Pottery**

Instructor: Kay Hunter

Ages: 6-8

Dates: Session 1: (6) Wednesdays, September 10 - October 15

           Session 2: (6) Wednesdays, October 22 - November 26

Time: 5:00 - 6:00 pm

 

Ages: 9-12

Students will learn to make 4 different kinds of hand-built pots; pinch pots, coil pots, slab pots and sculpture pieces.  these all make wonderful gifts for the special people in your life.

 

Sight-Size Drawing Workshop**

Ages: 16+

Dates: Friday and Saturday, September 12 and 13

Time: Friday, 5:00 - 8:00 pm     Saturday, 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Cost: $170 members/$180 non-members

 

Learn about a technique used by the Old Masters and in  the French Academy.  Sight-size allows an artist to accurately see and depict life at any scale onto a 2 dimensional surface without the use of a projector.  We will use an actual Bargue plate to begin our study on Friday and move onto a charcoal still life on Saturday.

 

Beginning Lithography**

Instructor:  Everett Ward

Ages: 16+

Dates: (7) Tuesdays, September 16 - October 28

Time: 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Cost: $180 members/$190 non-members

 

Class will cover a brief introduction to Lithography techniques; graining stone, preparing artwork on stone, etching stone and pulling an edition of prints. 

 

Portrait Painting From Life**

Instructor: Lacey Lewis

Ages: Adult

Dates: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, September 26, 27, 28

Time: Friday, 5:00 pm-8:00 pm,  Saturday, 11:00 am-5:00 pm,  Sunday, 10:00 am-1:00 pm

Cost: $250 members/$260 non-members

 

The class will cover everything from posing and lighting the model, overview of facial proportions, creating an accurate drawing and likeness in monochrome, values and skin tones.  Lacey will both demonstrate on her own canvas and help students individually as they complete each step.

 

KNIT and CROCHET STUDIO

Instructor:  Anna Glynn-Hurla

Ages:  13-Adult

Dates:  TBA September

Cost per month: $40 members/ $45 non-members

 

Beginning knit and crochet instruction and problem solving/support for beginner through intermediate.  Beginners will receive a supply list on their first visit.  Non-beginners are asked to bring in a work in progress.  This is an ongoing studio and the dues are to be paid monthly

The Carnegie offers open studio time for artists wanting to come and use

the studios during hours of operation.  Studios are available for members only,

and the charge for open studio time is $50 per month.
