About Us:

The MISSION of the Carnegie Arts Center is to provide quality fine arts instruction, exhibition and performance opportunities, while offering professionals in the arts fields a facility in which to teach, exhibit, perform and share their talents and understanding of the arts.

Some programs are supported in part by the Kansas Arts Commission, a state agency,

and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency,

and The Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department. 

The Carnegie Arts Center is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools

Wonder Workshop African Drum Circle

 

The Carnegie Arts Center is teaming up with Leavenworth Parks and Recreation

to bring you Richard Camara Pitts of the "Roots of Rhythm" drum circle.

  

The African drum circle follows the Carnegie Arts Center's week-long "Out of Africa" Summer Art Camp and is free and open to the public.

 

Join us Saturday, July 26, 2008, for a community drum circle.

We will be meeting at Leavenworth Landing Park*

at Esplanade and Cherokee Streets

in Leavenworth, Kansas at 6:30 in the evening. 

The drum circle will last until approximately 8:30 pm.

 

 

* In case of rain, the drum circle will be moved into the Riverfront Community Center at 123 N. Esplanade.

 

The African Drum Circle is also sponsored by Armed Forces Insurance, Les Novelettes, and Arts in Motion.

Dorian Michael in Concert!

 

 

Acoustic guitarist Dorian Michael will be performing at the

Carnegie Arts Center on Friday, September 12, 2008, at 6:30 pm.

 

 

Dorian Michael comes to Leavenworth from central California, where he lives "somewhere between a hay field and a waterfall."  He refers to his music as "contemporary traditional" and he draws from a variety of musical styles.

 

Tickets will be available for purchase beginning in August.

Adults - $10.00

Seniors and Carnegie Members - $8.00

Children - $5.00

Vienna Boys Choir

 

The Vienna Boys Choir is set to perform at Leavenworth High School in

Leavenworth, Kansas on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 7:00 pm.

This fantastic vocal performance is brought to the Leavenworth community by

Opus 3 Artists, the Carnegie Arts Center, and the Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation.

 

While the Vienna Boys Choir has performed in the Kansas City area in the past, this is their first performance in Leavenworth, Kansas.  What an opportunity for the Leavenworth area!

 

Tickets will be available for purchase beginning in August of 2008.

Special Notes

 

The Carnegie Arts Center now has two new instructors!

 

 

Dr. Lacy Johnson, Ph.D. will be offering writing classes.

 

Lacey Lewis will soon be teaching a variety of art classes at the Carnegie and currently has a solo exhibition at the Hilliard Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri.  Her work will be on display at the

Hilliard Gallery from June 6 through June 28.

Piano, Violin, Viola, Voice, Harmonica, Recorder and Guitar

 

The Carnegie Arts Center welcomes another highly qualified instructor!

NOW AVAILABLE:

Flute and Trumpet (beginning and intermediate)

 Clarinet and Saxophone (beginning, intermediate, and advanced)

Tuesdays, starting March 4th, between 3:30 – 7:30 pm with Gary Mushlin

and

Guitar (beginning)

Saturdays, starting June 7th, between 9:00 am and noon with Bill Elliot

 

Beginning Harmonica and Recorder

Mondays, starting June 16th, between 2:00 and 6:00 pm with Don Carlson

 

Tuition for private lessons is paid monthly, not by the lesson. 

Tuition should be paid at the beginning of each month prior to the start of the first lesson.

 

Tuition rates (per month):

30 minute lessons: $60 members/$68 non-members

45 minute lessons: $90 members/$102 non-members

60 minute lessons: $120 members/$136 non-members
